With over 20 years experience in all aspects of real-estate transactions, including acquisitions, sales, financing, leasing, development, and construction, Mr. Epstein is called upon frequently by the media to speak and write about real-estate issues. His clients have included Unum Life Insurance Company, Citibank Private Bank, Hitachi, Peet's Coffee, ASA Institute, Polestar Capital, Realex Capital (owner of 444 Madison and formerly of 30 Broad Street), Friedman Realty Group (successor to Peter R. Friedman, Ltd.), The Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS), the Malawi and Ba'hai missions to the United Nations, the Panama Maritime Commission, and Midnight Oil (owner of the Whiskey Bar chain). During his affiliation with the firm, he has closed sales of commercial and residential buildings in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Prior to joining Finkelstein Newman, Mr. Epstein served for over 6 years as General Counsel at ZAR Realty, the owner of more than six million square feet of Manhattan commercial and residential space. He also worked as General Counsel at Peter R. Friedman, Ltd., a New York City real-estate brokerage, asset management, and development firm. Earlier he practiced real-estate law in California with one of the largest real-estate law firms in the country, Allen Matkins Leck Gamble & Mallory, as well as DelBello Donnellan Weingarten & Tartaglia in White Plains, New York. Mr. Epstein graduated from Cornell University in 1980 with a B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations and Stanford University Law School in 1983, and is a member of both the New York and California bars.
